10/13/24 What Happens Behind Closed Doors In the Family
Scripture: Genesis 50:15-21
Preacher: Dr. Rickie Harris
- It starts in Gen 37 and ends in ch. 50
- Gen 37:3
- In every family, there is some favoritism that goes on in the house
- In every family system, the children have already established rank and order regardless of the parents saying something.
- Favortism brings friction Gen 37:4
- Every family has friction
- Friction comes from favoritism or favor by God
- God has something planned for you, but if you tell people your dream, they will try their best to hijack your dream. But God had given favor to Joseph, but the favor brought friction
- Whenever friction goes to far…you have fibbing and coverup
- Gen 37:29
- Forgiveness happens behind closed doors Gen 50:15
- Gen 42:21
- Joseph went from being the favorite, to being in a pit, then when to prison. He could’ve blamed his brothers.
- But Joseph answers in Gen. 50:19-20
- 1 Cor. 6:11
- Joseph said his brothers meant to harm him, but God meant it for good
- But=turns what I used to be to what I am now
- Every family will have favoritism, friction, fibbing, but thank God in every family you have forgiveness going on
- There’s always going to be somebody in need of forgiveness or we need to forgive somebody
- You have to get to the last piece of forgiveness. It requires us to do something. After we forgive, there should be fruits of our forgiveness
