2/25/24 New Self Old Self
Scripture: Ephesians 4:22-24
Evangelist Emeritus: Dr. Tony Roach, Sr.
- We need to put off our old self love
- Old self – false you. New self – new you
- The new self is created to be like God in true righteousness
- The old self can make you think you are ok and that you are alright. It’s deceitful!
- Colossians 3:9-10
- The old self has practices: so does the new self. Knowledge of the old self gives birth to the new self
- Romans 6:5
- How many of you know what to do when Satan hijacks your peace, joy, and happiness?
- There are 4 old self love home bases: Abandonment, Abuse, Rejection, and Worthlessness
- Worthlessness: overcompensate, control, manipulate and rescue and persecute. Then you become a victim
- The judge is the inner person who judges self, others, and circumstances.
- Matthew 7:1
- Abandonment: disengage, deny, dishonest; rescue, persecute, victim and then judge
- Rejection: just enough to get accept, only enough not to get rejected, you settle, you are a people pleaser. The disease to please, you get stuck
- You got your old self from your greatest pain
- Abuse: Sabotage significant relationships, then they blame, project the abuse on the other person
- Abuse (old self)/Purpose (new self)
- You can live in your new self 24/7
- Matthew 4: Jesus went into the wilderness with the Holy Spirit to be tested
- The devil questioned Jesus worth by asking him, If you are the son on God….He questioned Jesus purpose. He caused him to question his single most important relationship with God
- Pride test: He told Jesus to cast himself down and the angels will protect him
- Test: The devil showed him all the splendors of the world and he said he would give it all to Jesus if he would bow down and worship him.
- When you don’t deal with your old self, you can become distant from God. You will wander away and have a distant relationship with God. Then the devil comes and puts you in a hostage status.
- The power test is the most powerful. Comes when you are in a position of power
- Be truthful. Provide all things honest before God and man.
- You must own your old self
- The answer to the judge is empathizing.
