9/8/24 Jesus Our Life Model: For Developing New Self Confidence
Scripture: Luke 2:41-52
Preacher: Elder Randy Jackson, Sr.
- God sent Jesus not just to be our Savior but also our life model
- As a life model Jesus has a strategy that describes a lifestyle that allows us as we model his life model to craft new visions and break down old norms for our lives
- Whatever your pursuit in life has to be, when you develop new self confidence in three domains is an indicator of how successful you can be
- It requires a mastery of cognitive, coordinative, and communicative domains
- The way Jesus developed his new self confidence by focusing on the process and not the outcome
- Jesus made sure to present himself on the process on who God is
- Jesus made a decision not to be captivated by the outcome of who He was to become but the outcome of what He was to become
- The trait of obedience-Jesus models for us the importance of obedience and the importance of it in our personal and spiritual development
- Luke 2:51-52
- The process of Jesus being obedient to the higher authorities that God placed in His life that allowed Him to grown in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man
- The process of obedience allowed Jesus to get mastery in cognitive, coordinative, and communicative skills
- The first thing Jesus grew in was wisdom
- Wisdom-when a person takes knowledge and make accurate and appropriate application
- From the ages of 12-30 (Jesus’s processing time)…he grew to know how to apply the knowledge God was giving him. When it came time for the fulfillment of his purpose, He would be able to do that
- You will never become the best version of yourself without recognizing and submitting to being obedient to the recognized authorities in our life
- In every context in a person’s life there is a higher authority you must submit to for growth and development
- Ephesians 5:21-submit to one another in the fear of the Lord
- Col. 3:22-24-context of job
- Context in church-Hebrews 13:7 & 17
- Check in on yourself and see if there is an area you are limited in cause that could be an area that we are limited in submitting to God
- How can you identify a possible area of disobedience?
- Disobedience is something we don’t ever want to confront
- Think of a time in your life when you got caught
- It’s not to cause shame, but to confront. Not confronting it means it keeps confronting you
- Your confidence will rise no higher than your ability. It’s all about mastery. You won’t get it right all the time. But when you make up your mind to confront it you get dominance over it
- When you got caught….what was your initial response to getting caught?
- An area of disobedience creates cycles and patterns of repeating the same situation.
- You don’t want to deny what the obvious is. Don’t let it confront you
- 1 Samuel 15
- God is interested in our obedience
- Hebrews 5:8
- Jesus was perfected through the obedience of what He suffered
- You’ll never be perfected until you learn about the principle of obedience
