11/13/22 The Marching Orders of the Church
Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20
Evangelist: Bro. Ian D. Nickerson, Sr.
- The church is a war vessel and not a tourist attraction
- We are soldiers in the Lord’s army
- The church still has the power to turn the world upside down. The Lord uses weak, infallible, sinful people like us to spread the gospel to the men and women of the world.
- God says, I can use you! We must remain obedient to the marching orders of the church
- He called them where they were. Matthew 28:16 Jesus said, Go!
- Go means as you are on your way. Tell somebody about Jesus on your every day walk as you are living
- Go, Teach, and Baptize those in the world. Then continue to teach them.
- We have a responsibility being enlisted members of the body of Christ
- Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1; Acts 2:38
- The Great Commission is in Acts chapter 2
- Acts 19 Disciples were asked by Paul, have you received the Holy Spirit? Paul had to reteach them
- You will receive power to be witnesses to teach the gospel (Acts 1:8)
- The way to receive the Holy Spirit is in Acts 2:38. They asked the question, what shall we do? Peter said to Repent and be baptized, then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
- We don’t have a choice in the military but we act like we have a choice as a Christian. We have marching orders.
- I Peter 3:21; Acts 21:16
- I Peter 1:2
- God had a plan for us to be successful
- You have holy help to help you to be successful on your Christian walk
- The Holy Spirit is given to us to help us to be obedient. The Holy Spirit guides us
- Ephesians 1:11
- We have an inheritance. God has an inheritance. Ephesians 1:14
- God gives us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee! It’s a seal to let God know we are a part of his kingdom. This is how he will recognize us when he comes back.
- II Timothy 2:1
- Serve faithfully!
